Kazakhstan to launch biometric method of public services’ receiving

To receive the necessary public service in this way, citizens will need to provide their biometric data: photos and fingerprints.

“Government for citizens State Corporation plans to launch a pilot project providing an access for public services by scanning fingerprints and retina,” Chairman of the Board of the Government for Citizens State Corporation Ablaikhan Ospanov informed, BNews.kz correspondent reports.

In his words, the new service will be launched in this July.

The citizens may provide for their biometric data - photo of retina and fingerprints at pleasure. It will allow authorizing on the egov.kz portal and receive public services, according to Ablaikhan Ospanov.

It should be noted the personal data will be protected as well as any other data in public databases.

“Your photo and fingerprints will be equated with personal data similar to the data, available in various public databases, such as physical, legal entities, the registry office system. The database will be secured at full,” the speaker explained.

The project will be launched in the pilot mode in order to demonstrate the advantages of this method and further making amendments to the legislation.
