Kazakhstan’s Foreign Ministry commented talks of heads of South and North Korea
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan made a statement on the results of the summit between the Republic of Korea and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.
The Republic of Kazakhstan welcomes the Panmunjom summit held in the border point between President of the Republic of Korea Moon Jae-in and Supreme Leader o North Korea Kim Jong-un, BNews.kz correspondent reports. As was noted in the Ministry, Kazakhstan highly appreciates the results of the talks aimed at restoring an inter-Korean dialogue and strengthening global security.
“Kazakhstan supports the regulation of the situation on the Korean peninsula by a dialogue and talks, and believes that a political and diplomatic decision is the only right one to consider complex international issues. As the country that has the experience in nuclear disarmament, Kazakhstan welcomes the Panmunjom declaration on peace, prosperity and reunification of the Korean peninsula, and fully supports agreement of the two states on reaching Peninsula’s nuclear-free status,” they said in the Ministry.
The active dialogue between the two Koreas resulted tangible from the beginning of the year, as the inter-Korean summit and Pyongyang’s refusal from nuclear tests and launch of missiles was reached.
“In this context, the decision of Kazakhstan on closing the largest test site, refusing the nuclear arsenal, liquidating the military infrastructure was exemplary, and the participation in the implementation and promotion of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons and the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty were key in the country’s successful and stable development, as well as in the country’s active foreign policy and regional security,” they said in the Ministry.
