Lack of qualified specialists delays opening of Kazakhstani schools in Baikonur

Currently 2,4 thousand of young Kazakhstanis in Baikonur are educated by Russian Educational standards.

Kyzylorda district administration assures to address the issue of opening Russian schools by Kazakhstan educational standards by 2020. The regional deputy mayor Serik Kozhanyazov pointed that there are only six schools and one kindergarten functioning in accordance with Kazakhstani educational system. Also, he highlighted that these institutions do not provide education in Russian language, BNews.kz reported. 

"Of course, we need to give opportunities for our young Russian-speaking Kazakhstan citizens living in Baikonur to study by Kazakhstani books, to take UNT, and I think by 2020 we will solve this issue of opening Kazakhstani schools with Russian language,” Kozhanyazov said.

He pointed out that this process is delayed due to lack of qualified professionals in Baikonur. For example, there are no teachers of Kazakh language, history, and geography. “As of today, we are able to accommodate elementary schools with qualified teachers, however not for middle and high schools.”

As reported by the deputy mayor, the region will give a high priority in hiring pedagogic specialists.

"For example, the region is willing to provide grants to prepare qualified specialists and accommodate with living space,” he said.

Meanwhile, in Russian schools in Baikonur 2,5 thousand of Kazkahstani children are studying from textbooks that their motherland is Russia.
