The construction will be given a start in spring.

This spring Vinci, a French building contractor, will get down to the construction of the largest oncology center in Astana under the auspices of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Centre that is the world leader in the field of oncology, Bnews.kz correspondent reports referring to the website of the Mayor’s Office.

“The uniqueness of the centre is that it will meet the latest scientific and technological achievements in the area of cancer treatment. A hospital, clinic and hotel will be housed in it”, reported the principal of the company’s branch, Timur Dzhabua.

According to him, it is President Nursultan Nazarbayev who initiated the idea and set the task of creating a medical cluster at the level of world standards in 2011.

Nazarbayev University acted as an ordering customer and invited the Pittsburg Medical Center as a leading consultant in the above-mentioned area.

In order to carry out the project VINCI chose BI GROUP, a Kazakhstani company.

The National Scientific Oncological Centre will be situated on the territory of Nazarbayev University and will occupy an area of more than 5 hectares. Advanced biological and medical investigations, innovations and new health practices are planned to be applied there. The center is to provide a full-fledged oncologic aid in the region.
