Majilis Chairman met with Ambassador of Germany to Kazakhstan

Today, the Chairman of Majilis Nurlan Nigmatullin has met with Rolf Mafael has been named as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to Kazakhstan. Actual issues of bilateral relations, including strengthening of the inter-parliamentary dialogue were discussed, BNews.kz reports.

Majilis speaker underlined the high dynamics of contacts at the highest levels, which laid the basis for the Kazakhstan-Germany relations at the level of a strategic partnership.

The sides expressed their hope for an early conclusion of the work of the Bundestag on the ratification of the agreement on the partnership and cooperation between Kazakhstan and the European Union, which offers great opportunities for enhancing economic interaction.

Discussing the international agenda, N. Nigmatullin and Rolf Mafael  noted the similarity of positions of Kazakhstan and Germany in strengthening regional security and stability.

The Chairman of the Majilis stressed the relevance of the initiative of the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev on the establishment under United Nations auspices of a global network for the fight against the international terrorism and extremism.

Special attention is given to the constitutional reforms in Kazakhstan. The German diplomat was informed by the Chairman of Majilis about political reforms, underlining that the presidential form of Government maintained in Kazakhstan and all strategic issues, including foreign policy, national security and defense will remain as the prerogative of the President.

In turn, Rolf Mafael speaking about Kazakhstan-German relations over the past 25 years praised the achievements of independent Kazakhstan and United Germany. Important directions of development of our country, the German diplomat called the accession of Kazakhstan to the WTO and a desire to join the OECD.
