Majilis speaker and World Bank Chairman discussed the support of Kazakhstan’s economy

Experience and knowledge of the Bank’s experts will be useful in the lawmaking work of deputies, Nigmatulin notes.

Speaker of the Majilis of Parliament of Kazakhstan Nurlan Nigmatulin held a meeting with Resident Representative of the World Bank Ato Brown and Regional Director for the Central Asia Region Lilia Burunciuc, BNews.kz reports. At the talk, Nigmatulin underlined the huge work that has been done during 25 years of cooperation of Kazakhstan with the Financial Institute.

As the speaker of the Majilis noted, over these years, 46 projects were financed in Kazakhstan, other 48 are in the portfolio of the cooperation program. Since 2002, the Program of joint economic research has been implementing. In the previous year, the Partnership strategy between Kazakhstan and the World Bank for 2012-2017 was implemented.

Talking about the development of our country, he underlined the importance of the initiated by the President of Kazakhstan program “Nurly Zhol” that has been implementing and includes large projects on construction of transport, social and energy infrastructure, the development of small- and medium-sized enterprises.

The Resident Representative of the World Bank in Kazakhstan highly appreciated successes of our country achieved over the years of independence. According to Ato Brown, the World Bank is proud of the joint work with Kazakhstan.

As Lilia Burunciuc noted, Kazakhstan is one of the main partners of the World Bank in the Central Asia and to work with our country if one of the main directions of the World Bank, as large-scale projects are being implemented here.

The matters of cooperation were also discussed with parliamentarians.

According to the speaker of the Majilis, experience and knowledge of the Bank will be useful in the lawmaking work of the deputy corps. In particular, the importance to discuss such matters, as the improvement of the measures of state support of agriculture, digitalization of the sphere, as well as the study of possibilities of introducing innovative financial tools was noted.
