Baurzhan Baibek noted that Almaty was committed to sustainable development goals. Within the concept 'Gorod dlya lyudei'(City for people), public spaces are being modernized, including conditions for people with disabilities. The project 'Ustoichivyi transport' (Sustainable transport) is being successfully implemented jointly with the UN development programme. He added that the creation of a UN regional hub in Almaty was a priority task for the Mayor's Office.

"In Almaty, 29 consulates and trade officers function, and more than 60 large transnational organizations are located. Kazakhstan is a peace-loving and safe country. Owing to the institutional reforms of the head of state, the sustainable economic growth is ensured. We conduct systematic work to make the city a regional hub for international organizations. Taking into account that these days 'Summit of Mayors' devoted to the 40th anniversary of the signing of the Almaty Declaration of the WHO is being held, and I am sure that the presentation of the new home of the United Nations will be in the history of our cooperation in a 'golden' line. Congratulate employees of the United Nations on the new location. The Mayor's Office and the city's budget will allocate necessary funds for ongoing and major repair works every five years," said the Mayor of Almaty.

In the near future, 19 agencies and representative offices of the International Organization will bring together in the building. The hub will focus to coordinate aid to the central Asian states and to Afghanistan, as well as to provide support.

"The building is very modern, beautiful, co=mfortable and safe. 19 agencies and UN representative offices will be located here. So, the UN home was set up in Kazakhstan. In addition, the large area of the office that we have acquired will facilitate the Organization's work and the attraction of more wider layers of the population as well in the formation of the agenda of the future. Thus, the construction of this building and bringing it into use ar the big present of Kazakhstan in the strengthening peace," said UNICEF Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia Afshan Khan.
