Memorable visit of Kazakhstan President to Azerbaijan
The visit of Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev to Azerbaijan was more than successful for the leaders of two countries. Political scientist, director of the Center for Political Studies "Atlas" Elkhan Shahinoglu reviewed the results of the agreements after the meeting of two heads of States, and also explained why Kazakhstan is a very important economic partner for Azerbaijan, BNews.kz correspondent reports.
Firstly, the expert noted, in Baku an important trade and economic documents were signed, which should give a start to economic relations between two countries.
"Secondly, the President once again expressed support for the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan by Astana. Nursultan Nazarbayev mentioned about the UN resolution on a settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, where Armenian armed forces must leave the occupied territories”, Shahinoglu said.
According to him, despite on the fact that Kazakhstan together with Armenia participates in the The Collective Security Treaty Organization and Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), Astana all time supports the position of Azerbaijan on the Nagorno-Karabakh problem and Yerevan doesn’t like it.
"Yerevan does not understand the simple truth-Kazakhstan supports Azerbaijan not only due to close relations between two nations, this is the principle position of all the countries that care about the territorial integrity which is the key to peace and stability in the entire region”, he said.
But most of all past visit was memorable for the fact that Astana and Baku are very interested in the development of trade and economic relations, the expert believes.
"Azerbaijan can become a window for Kazakhstan to Europe. There are the obvious prerequisites. One of them is ending the construction of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway project, which will connect the East with the West. Products from Kazakhstan through this railway can be shipped to the European markets. Another prerequisite is the commissioning of one of the world's richest oil field Kashagan in Kazakhstan. In the future, the oil could be transported on the route of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan", Shahinoglu said.
