Monaco Prince Albert II Foundation to assist Kazakhstan in development innovation techs

The International Green Technology and Investments Center supports Kazakhstan's energy transition to achieve the ambitious goals set in the Kazakhstan-2050 Strategy.

The Fund will share an experience with the International Green Technology and Investments Center (IGTIC) through a technical and scientific partnership, BNews.kz correspondent reports with a reference to the IGTIC press service.

Vice President of the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation Bernard Fotie and IGTIC head Rapil Zhoshybayev signed an agreement partnership agreement which marks their shared commitment to work towards a sustainable economy. The ceremony took place in the presence of Mr. Gilles Tonelli, and representatives of the Kazakhstani IGTIC and Minister of Kazakh Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

IGTIC supports Kazakhstan's energy transition to achieve the ambitious goals set in the Kazakhstan-2050 Strategy, including reducing greenhouse gas emissions and increasing the share of RES in the total amount of electricity generation by 50% by 2050.

Focusing on the implementation of its projects in C Asia (Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan), as well as in other regions in Iran, Afghanistan, Mongolia and Azerbaijan, IGTIC will work to develop innovative and sustainable technologies that can facilitate the exchange of best practices and improvement of existing legislation.

The press service noted that in June 2006, the Prince of Monaco decided to establish its Fund to address the alarming ecological situation of the planet. The Fund promotes environmental protection and sustainable development on a global scale. The organization supports projects of public and private organizations in the field of research and technological innovation and also encourages outstanding initiatives by awarding prizes and grants.

According to Rapil Zoshybayev, the partnership will mark new horizons for bilateral cooperation, allowing to find opportunities for developing the potential of cooperation between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Principality of Monaco.

Besides, an experience of the Foundation in the field of preservation of endangered species of animals, melting glaciers, to combat deforestation of tropical forests and other environmental programs is of prime interest too.

Thus, the Foundation will share the information with IGTIC by means of the technic and scientific cooperation, conferences roundtable discussion and symposiums on ecological themes.

In the framework of the special legal regime of the Astana International Finance Centre in Kazakhstan, a "green" fund will work, which currently focuses on developing solutions for microloans or providing grants to Kazakhstan developers of new technologies and inventions..
