Over 15 thousand cases of fire are registered within a year in Kazakhstan, causing the death of 1410 citizens and 3319 victims over the last three years, Kazakh Internal Affairs Minister Kalmukhanbet Kassymov informed, BNews.kz correspondent reports.

"3319 people have injured in the fire since 2015 to the present time, of whom 1410 died. The damage was around 12 billion tenge. The largest number of the fires occurs in the Almaty region, Eastern Kazakhstan, the Karaganda and Kostanay regions," said the Internal Affairs Minister during the governmental hour.

According to him, the most number of fire occur in the spheres beyond state fire control, including the private sector, transport, forest, and steppe fire.

"Up to 70% of the fires mostly caused by incautious fire-handling, faults in electronic equipment, devices, stoves in houses, children playing with fire occur in the private sector. So we organize public information exercises, including meetings, gatherings, inspect houses for the implementation of fire safety requirements, give different training materials, show videos," he said.

At the same time, according to the Minister, experience has shown that preventive works among the population are not very effective. So the Ministry's Committees take actions necessary to organize and conduct comprehensive preventive works to attract the citizens' attention to fire safety.

According to the Ministry, over the last three years, the country has faced over 2 thousand wildfire and burnings on the area of 1.4 million hectares. The damage caused over these three years was 674 million tenge, with 17 deaths and 11 victims. In many cases, this occurs because of a lack of funds and advanced equipment to prevent and to extinguish the fire and burnings in forests and steppes quickly.
