Nazarbayev's initiative is very crucial - Sephardi Chief Rabbi of Israel

Now it is up to us to be an example of constructive dialogue, Yitzhak Yosef says.

The Sephardi Chief Rabbi of Israel, Ovadia Yosef, appraised the 6th Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions taking place in Astana, BNews.kz correspondent reports.

"Nursultan Nazarbayev's initiative to gather at one table and to hear each other is crucial. Now we are responsible for constructive dialogue. It is important to be able to listen, and hear each other," said Ovadia Yosef, the Sephardi Chief Rabbi of Israel on the sidelines of the 6th Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions.

We note the 6th Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions under the theme 'Religious Leaders for the Safe World' has started off in Astana.

More than 82 delegations from 46 states, including eminent politicians, religious Islam, Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, Hinduism, Daoism, Zoroastrianism, as well as representatives of the world, religious and public organizations, such as the UN Alliance of Civilization, OSCE, UNESCO, the Arab League and others. The Congress includes two plenary session and four breakout sessions.

The idea to hold the International Forum belongs to Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev. In 2003, Astana held the first Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions. Since then the Forum is held every three years in the capital city of Kazakhstan.
