“Receiving healthcare worldwide has become an important part of the medical community. That historical document entered textbooks in many universities in other countries. The signing of the WHO Declaration in 1978 was a vivid example of the effectiveness of international efforts. It highlighted the basic principles of primary health care, the protection of maternal and child health, the prevention of diseases, including vaccination, and drug provision. Since then, health care throughout the world has developed according to these key directions," said the head of state.

According to the President of Kazakhstan, today humanity faces new challenges such as the worsening of the environment, an inactive way of life, unhealthy diets has increased the burden of chronic diseases.

"In turn, the increase in the incidence of the population will increase the burden on the social security system. The issues of health financing and universal health coverage are of particular importance and relevance at the current stage. These topics will be discussed at the UN General Assembly in 2019. At the same time, development trends, the technological revolution are opening up new, unique opportunities for us,” added the head of state.

The head of state stressed that the provision of support for public health is the basis for sustainable development and the growth of countries' welfare.

"In Kazakhstan, as well as in the rest of the world, digital transformation processes are actively going on, including the health sector. Providing support for public health is the basis for sustainable development and the growth of countries' welfare. I urge leaders of all countries to define this approach as a top priority for state policy. The adoption of the new Astana Declaration on primary health care will be an important milestone in improving the health system around the world. I am sure this program document will facilitate the improvement in the quality of life, the strengthening of people's health throughout the world," said the President of Kazakhstan.
