Nazarbayev: Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions is a visit card of Astana
The Kazakh President has welcomed participants of the Congress in the Palace of Peace and Accord.
Nursultan Nazarbayev takes part in the 6th Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, BNews.kz correspondent reports.
"I wholeheartedly glad to welcome everyone in the hospitable Kazakh ground. I express deep appreciation to religious leaders, representatives of international organizations, politicians and experts for supporting the initiative to summon the Congress and their personal participation in it. 15 years have passed since the first Congress was held," said Nursultan Nazarbayev in his welcome speech.
He notes that today all participants and guests gather for the sixth time.
"I am very glad to meet with our old friends, participants of the previous sessions, as well as to welcome those who have arrived in Astana for the first time. Our capital city has celebrated the 20th anniversary this year. The Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions can be called as its visit card, as we have built this city as a Eurasian city of the future which is open to all cultures. Universally accepted principles - the unity of diversities - are the true philosophy of Kazakhstan's capital city. Now Astana is well-known among the world community as an attraction point of peace-keeping processes, an initiative to unite. Our capital city has an especial spirit of solidarity, mutual respect and tolerance. In the three years since the previous Congress, Astana has been a venue to hold important global events," said the President.
"All this is very important as the World, unfortunately, has entered into the turbulent state. All of us, politicians, religious leaders, are worried about sanctions, religious conflicts, trade wards," said the Kazakh head of state.
