Nazarbayev met with business circles' representatives of Turkey
At the meeting, Nursultan Nazarbayev emphasized Kazakhstan's economic advantages.
Speaking to representatives of Turkey's business, the Kazakh head of state noted the positive dynamics of trade and economic cooperation between the two states, the Akorda's official website reports.
"Relations between Kazakhstan and Turkey are established on mutual friendship, brotherhood, and trust. Turkey is among the top-10 trade partners of Kazakhstan. Trade turnover between our states in 2017 increased by 27% and made up almost 2 billion US dollars," said the Kazakh President.
Nursultan Nazarbayev dwelt on investment cooperation and the implementation of joint projects in different sectors of the economy. In particular, it was noted that Turkey has invested up to 3 billion US dollars in the country since Kazakhstan's independence, and as of today, the country has more than 2000 enterprises with participation of Turkey's capital.
In addition, the Kazakh head of state told about the results of the 'New Synergy' programme aimed at supporting entrepreneurs of the two states.
"Within the programme, 23 projects with a total cost of 800 million US dollars were launched, that allowed to create three thousand workplaces. Yesterday business representatives of our states signed 24 contracts for up to 1.7 billion US dollars, which is a bright example of our reciprocal trust and cooperation," said the Kazakh President.
At the meeting, Nursultan Nazarbayev emphasized Kazakhstan's economic advantages and favorable conditions created here to do business.
"Kazakhstan conducts a complex work to improve its investment climate. In order to improve entrepreneurship, the relevant amendments were introduced to legislation. Kazakhstan ranks 36th among other 190 states in Doing Business rankings of the World Bank. Our state is a member of the Investment Committee of the OECD, said the head of state."
Nursultan Nazarbayev also told about the Council of Foreign Investors under the President of Kazakhstan, Kazakh Invest and variegated preferences for investors.
"11 special economic zones and 24 industrial zones run in Kazakhstan. Their participants are provided with tax and other preferences. I invite Turkey's companies to develop their businesses in Kazakhstan," said the Kazakh President.
The head of state also underlined transit and transport possibilities of Kazakhstan.
"Kazakhstan actively develops trans-continental and multimodal shipments between Europe and Asia. 5 rail- and 6 moto-roads of international significance pass our country. We have modernized the port of Aktau and expanded its potential," said Nursultan Nazarbayev.
The Kazakh President outlined the possibility of foreign investors' participation in privatizing industrial plants and in implementing innovative projects in the agro-industrial complex.
Additionally, the Kazakh head of state invited Turkey's businessmen to take part in innovative cluster established on the base of Nazarbayev University and the Park of Innovative Technologies, as well as to study perspectives to make joint projects in tourism.
"The Astana International Financial Centre was established on the base of the EXPO-2017 exhibition, the work of which based on the best models of financial centers of New York, Singapore, London, and Dubai. Its legal status is embodied in the Constitutional law, the working language is English. It is the only Financial Centre in the region which is governed by English law," said the Kazakh President.
Talking about the core advantages of the Financial Centre, Nursultan Nazarbayev noted the special tax, currency, visa and labor regimes for the AIFC's participants.
In the end, the Kazakh head of state called on businessmen of the two states to actively take part in developing and strengthening of international relations by using all conditions created.
The head of state also met with Chairman of the Board of 'Koç Holding' Ali Yıldırım Koç. At the meeting, they discussed prospects for development of trade and economic cooperation and implementation of investment projects in Kazakhstan.
The Chairman, in particular, expressed a commitment to implement projects in the defense industry and other production branches of economy.
