Nazarbayev notes Ban Ki-moon’s contribution to UN’s development
The head of state met with the chairman of the Boao Forum for Asia.
The head of state held a meeting with eighth UN Secretary General, chairman of the Boao Forum for Asia Ban Ki-moon, the Akorda reports.
At the meeting held on the sidelines of the Astana Economic Forum, the head of state welcomed Ban Ki-moon noting his contribution to the development of the United Nations.
“This visit is not your first visit to Kazakhstan. We worked together on the nuclear disarmament program. August 29 is celebrated around the world as the International Day against Nuclear Tests. We have friendly relations with you, and with the Republic of Korea,” said the President of Kazakhstan.
In turn, Ban Ki-moon underlined the importance of the AEF in the discussion and search for solutions to overcome global challenges.
“I am very glad to visit Kazakhstan for the first time holding a new status. I am ready to support in solving many global issues. The Astana Global Forum turned into a significant platform to discuss not only current topics, but also the issues of global development,” said the chairman of the Boao Asian Forum.
At the meeting, the sides discussed cooperation between the Boao Asian Forum and Astana Economic Forum, as well as considered prospects to establish links in development of green technologies, science and innovation sector and education.
