Nazarbayev visited a new mosque in Astana
The new postmodernism mosque was erected at the expense of charitable funds.
On the eve of the holly month of Ramadan, the head of state visited a new mosque that is located in the capital’s district of Saryarka, the website of the Akorda reports.
The President of Kazakhstan was presented the full information on the construction of the mosque and alternative energy sources used to provide the building with electricity and heating.
The construction of the mosque on the right bank of Ishim river was started in 2016. The mosque was erected at the expense of charitable funds. The building of the mosque has the style of postmodernism with the use of traditional patterns and decorative elements. The core building has a complex, hemispherical shape, that has triangular inclined planes and a dome with a diameter of 26 meters. The external design of the mosque looks like a flower and a diamond’s facets.
The minaret’s height located north from the core building of the mosque is 43.5 meters and constructed in the shape of “kalama” – the holly feather.
Alternative sources applied to supply electricity in the new mosque produce electricity by three times more of the necessary volume. The new mosque fits 750 visitors.
The building’s area is 2248 square meters. The area of the land is 1.44 ha.
