No country could fight down corruption, including the USA – the US Ambassador to Kazakhstan

The sides discussed a wide range of issues of cooperation, in particular, the protection of US investors.

Chairman of the Agency for Civil Service Affairs and Anti-Corruption Alik Shekbayev held a meeting with US ambassador to Kazakhstan George Krol, BNews.kz reports with reference to the Agency’s press service.

The USA is a key investor for Kazakhstan. A new stage of strategic partnership is being established between the two states. Alik Shekbayev told about systematic work on combating corruption and the role of the Agency in the issues of the improvement of civil service, the provision of qualitative civil services.

“The rating of states of the international organization Transparency International, where Kazakhstan took 31 scores and ranked 122nd place improving its position by 2 scores and nine positions compared to the indicators of 2016, was published,” Shpekbayev said.

At the talks, the head of the Agency showed the interest on the experience of the USA in civil service and the issues of combatting corruption.

The guest thanked Kazakhstanis for the meeting noting the constructive development of cooperation. According to him, the last meeting of the Presidents of the two states opens a new page in the history of interaction of Kazakhstan and the USA and that has already brought a number of specific results. 

“No country could fight corruption, including the USA, that is why the interaction in this sphere is a priority task for us, because Kazakhstan is an attractive platform to do business by US investors,” George Krol said.

The American took the decision to conduct lectures on the base of the Academy of Public Administration and expressed the interest in attracting the best experts from the USA to deliver speech to the Kazakhstan audience.

Following the results of the meeting, the sides discussed the possibility to hold grant education and internship of Kazakhstan civil servants in the USA to exchange experience in state management.
