Nursultan Nazarbayev met with French President Emmanuel Macron
The meeting was held in the City of Brussels, during which the heads of state noted that the volume of trade turnover between the two states could reach 5 billion dollars.
After the arrival to the opening of the 12th Summit of the 'Asia-Europe Meeting' (ASEM), President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev held a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron, BNews.kz correspondent reports.
The Kazakh head of state underlined that 26 years had passed since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two states, during which all necessary treaty and legal base had been established.
"I am sure that today's meeting will elevate the relations between Kazakhstan and France to a new level. There are tens of French companies in our country, and the volume of mutual trade turnover could reach 5 billion dollars," said Nursultan Nazarbayev.
In his turn, Emmanuel Macron welcomed the Kazakh head of state and noted the symbolism of the meeting during the 10th anniversary of Kazakhstan and France's conclusion of the strategic partnership agreement.
"Mr President, it is doubly satisfying to get to know you as this is our first joint meeting since I took the office. I look forward to discussing a range of issues with you and hear your view," said the President of France.
In the course of the meeting, that has passed in the atmosphere of mutual trust, the bilateral relations have been discussed, as well as an open exchange of views on the current regional and international agendas has been held.
