Oil from Kazakhstan will help to fill the Azerbaijani pipeline
Azerbaijan conducts negotiations with Russia and Kazakhstan on attraction of oil for filling of the Baku — Tbilisi — Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline to full capacity in 2018. It was said by the head of department of marketing and economic operations of the Azerbaijan State oil company SOCAR Adnan Akhmedzade at opening of the International oil summit of Argus in Baku, BNews.kz own correspondent reported.
"30 percent of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline still free, and the State oil company of Azerbaijan conducts negotiations for filling of free capacities of this pipeline, first of all with the Russian and Kazakhstan companies,"
The representative of SOCAR in the performance has actually disproved the message that Kazakhstan has resumed transportation of oil through the Baku — Tbilisi — Ceyhan pipeline. According to him, transit of the Kazakhstan oil on BTC in the current year wasn't carried out and for next year isn't planned yet.
We will remind that Kazakhstan has suspended transportation of oil through the Baku — Tbilisi — Ceyhan pipeline from the second half of 2015. In 2016 export of the Kazakhstan oil through Azerbaijan wasn't carried out neither along one of the existing routes – nor on the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline, nor on the Baku — Supsa pipeline, nor by rail. Meanwhile, in May of the current year the authoritative Azerbaijani news agency Trend reported with reference to the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan about renewal of transportation of the Kazakhstan oil through the Baku — Tbilisi — Ceyhan pipeline, having added that in 2017 through Azerbaijan on this pipeline 90 thousand tons of oil from Kazakhstan have been exported.
Power of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline is 50 million tons per year. From them 35 million tons are filled now, 15 million are still free. Except the Azerbaijani oil, on the pipeline only the Turkmen oil is exported at the moment.
Extent of the BTC oil pipeline is 1 768 thousand km, of them in Azerbaijan – 443 km, Georgia – 249 km, Turkey – 1,076 thousand km.
