The project Garage will be part of Astana Hub.

A free incubation program for start-up projects “Garage” and a start-up project “Laboratory C-lab” were launched at the EXPO, the press-service of the Ministry of Information and Communication of Kazakhstan reports.

"The Incubation project for start-up programs Garage is a project with the help of which experts will help start-up entrepreneurs build sustainable business models and contribute to their further development. The project will last 3 months and prepare participants for the next stage of the accelerating program, which is scheduled for August 2018 year," says the report.

As explained in the press service, the pre-acceleration program "Garage" received 150 applications, 43 of which passed to Demo Day. The most important criterion is the scalability of the project.

Also, the Ministry noted that the laboratory C-lab is a platform for creating a "bridge" between the corporate sector and start-ups. The purpose of the program is to search and develop new ideas, services and cooperation of the corporate sector with start-ups.

It is known that on February 5 on the basis of Astana Hub the projects for participation in the program were selected. In the next three months, C-lab, together with the companies, will help teams with development of ideas, conduct information sessions and personal consultations, create a prototype. The best projects will pass to the stage of testing and will have the opportunity to conclude contracts for implementation.

"More than 100 applications were received for the C-lab program, today the participants for the first time met with corporations, then active work with the teams will begin. In the summer, testing of projects and introduction on the basis of companies will start," says the Ministry.

During the presentation at the panel session, Kazakh Minister of Information and Communication Dauren Abayev noted that this project is part of the work of the state program Digital Kazakhstan, developed on behalf of President Nursultan Nazarbayev.

"Today, by opening the accelerating program, we are making a small but very significant step into the world of new ideas, advanced technologies and digital solutions," said Dauren Abayev.

As part of the Garage program, teams will have the opportunity to test the idea of their start-up, create a minimal working product, attract the first customers, and present the project to potential investors. The peculiarity of the incubator is that it was created by entrepreneurs for entrepreneurs.

"The program is developed on the basis of Steve Blanc's methodology - lean startup. All participants are divided into teams, each of which presents its idea. Mentors, in the person of current businessmen, choose a team for which they will become a mentor. If several mentors choose one team, the decisive word will remain for the team," says the message.

Today each team presents its business project, and in the evening the best of them will be selected for participation in the Garage startup incubator. Thus, beginning businessmen get the opportunity to learn from key practitioners free of charge key skills of management, product creation and marketing.

The Ministry also noted that the project provides participants with the services of part-time specialists: developers, designers, marketers, as well as office space on the territory of EXPO with all the necessary tools: the high-speed Internet, coupons from partners for advertising (Google Adwords, Facebook ads), cloud services (Amazon web services, Microsoft, Adobe).
