Population of Kazakhstan has increased by 300 thousand this year – study
The most populated regions are South Kazakhstan and Almaty regions. And, long-lived people live in Astana and Almaty.
The population of Kazakhstan as of May 2018 has exceeded 18.2 million people – which is by 0.4% higher than at the beginning of the present year and by 1.8% (313.8 thousand people) higher compared to the beginning of 2017. Finprom.kz reports.
According to the data, the most populated regions are South Kazakhstan region – 3 million (a 16.2% share), Almaty region – 2 million people (a 11.1% share) and Almaty – 1.8 million people (a 10% share).
At the same time, the regions with the fast-growing population are Astana, Almaty Mangystau region. In the many-year dynamics, the population of the republic increases at a reasonable rate – on average by 1.5% a year.
Over the last 10 years, the population of Kazakhstan has increased by 2.5 million people, from 15.4% to 17.9 million. Of which, 10.3 million people (57.5%) live in cities, other 7.7 million (42.5%) live in villages. The increase of urban population for 2017 is 2.1%, and that of rural population is 0.4%.
As of the beginning of 2018, the number of women is higher than that of men by 547.7 thousand people. Totally, the number of men in Kazakhstan is 8.8 million, and women – 9.4 million. The share of men is 48.4%, and that of women is 51.6%. Kazakhstan’s women live longer than men by 8.2 years. The expected life expectancy following the 2017 data of women is 76.9 years, and that of men is 68.7 years.
