Possible opponents of FC Astana at UEFA Champions League play-off defined
FC Astana needs to win GNK Dinamo Zagreb to make its way to play-off of the main club competition of Europe.
FC Astana have learned their possible opponents at a play-off round of the UEFA Champions League, BNews.kz correspondent reports.
In case the team makes its way to the next stage of the competition, FC Astana could face with the following opponents: BSC Young Boys (Switzerland) and the winners in matches between Qarabag FK and FC BATE Borisov (Belarus), Malmo FF and FC Vidi, and Red Star Belgrade (Serbia) and FC Spartak Trnava (Slovakia).
The first matches of the play-off round of the UEFA Champions League are held on August 21-22, the return ones - on August 28-29.
We add that FC Astana needs to win the best team of Croatia - GNK Dinamo Zagreb - following the two matches in order to make its way to play-off of the main club competition of Europe. The first match as part of the third qualifying round of the Champions League is held August 7 in Kazakhstan, and the return one - August 14 in Croatia.
And, FC Kairat in the third qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League will meet with Football Club Spartak Trnava. The matches for the next stage of the competition FC Kairat starts with a visit game on August 9 in the Czech Republic, and a return match is planned on August 16 in Almaty.
In case the team headed by Andrey Arshavin wins over one of the strongest teams of Czechia, then the team will face with the winners of the following matches: FC Pyunik (Armenia)- Maccabi Tel Aviv F.C. (Israel), Besiktas J.K. (Turkey) - LASK Linz (Austria), Jagiellonia Bialystok (Poland) - K.A.A. Gent (Belgium), Sevilla FC (Spain) - FK Zalgiris (Lithuania).
