Process of obtaining work permits in Almaty by foreign migrants is simplified
During the last year, the city observed a positive trend in the simplification of the filling process.
The leading companies specializing in legal services for foreigners told about the administrative barriers foreigners face in Almaty during a meeting of the Foreign Labour Commission, BNews.kz reports referring to a press service of the Almaty Mayor's Office.
"Earlier, the process from submitting documents to obtaining permits lasts for 3 months. Now the term is being reduced. We have seen in practice that now it takes 30-45 days. Also, Almaty has become first Kazakhstan's region to switch to an electronic format of submitting documents on elicense.kz that made our job considerably easier," said the director of Work Permits Kazakhstan, Daniyar Ibragimov.
He also named the barriers in the processing documents he faced.
"For instance, I raised the question regarding the requirement according to which a company's first head, who hires a foreigner, should be present during a commission's meeting. However it is very difficult as a first head is frequently beyond the reach," said Ibragimov.
In their turn, the representatives of the Mayor's Office expressed their consent and promised to cancel such a requirement in the near future.
In addition, Almaty will host a conference on November 23, 2018, to discuss all current issues regarding foreign investors and specialists, and during which foreign citizens can address all their current issues and submit proposals to representatives of the Mayor's Office, the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and other state structures.
In order to attract foreign investors and specialists, 6 thousand quotas have been allocated for 2018 in Almaty. They include citizens of such countries as Turkey, the USA, Canada, South Korea, Western and Eastern Europe, which are drivers in the development of construction, hotel business, oil and gas spheres and trade in Almaty.
As of today, 14 thousand enterprises with the participation of foreign capital and labor operate in the city, as well as 45 thousand foreign citizens live. According to specialists, close cooperation between foreign experts in their spheres and local workers gives a leap in the technological and financial development of companies. International migrants transfer their experiences, knowledge, qualification, and specialization with their local colleagues.
