Red carpet event for celebrities in Pavlodar
Over 200 directors from 21 countries applied for a stand for Festival.
Solemn opening of the First International Film Festival of short, fiction and documentary films Ertis Cinema took place in Pavlodar, Bnews.kz correspondent reports.
On the sidelines of Festival chairman of the jury, head of the Union of Cinematographers of Kazakhstan, film director Yermek Tursunov noted works of young talented directors are very interesting and have a bright future. In addition, Tursunov expressed his opinion on turning the event into the traditional one.
More than 200 applications from directors from 21 countries were submitted to the festival held within the framework of Rukhani Zhangyru state program but after preliminary selection, the organizers admitted more than 60 pictures to the contest program.
According to one of the authors of Ertis Cimena project Ludmila Lebedeva, it is like an intoxication. In order to look through all applications, it needed above 50 hours.
The participation in the jury was confirmed by the People's Artist of Russia, famous film director Vladimir Khotinenko, Kazakh actors Askhat Kuchinkrekov, recognizable for his role in the film Aika and Farhat Abdraimov, honored figure of the Kazakhstan, art director of the Pavlodar Chekhov Drama Theater Viktor Avvakumov, director, screenwriter, actor Satybaldy Narymbetov, dean of the faculty Theater, Cinema and TV KazNUI Talgat Taishanov. Within the framework of the festival, meetings with well-known representatives of the film industry will be held at different sites of Pavlodar in the next two days.
The competitive viewing will start tomorrow July 13 in two cinemas of the city. The pictures will be divided into blocks of two hours, 40 minutes between which is given for discussion. The jury and spectators are presented with a variety of techniques and genres - from classical cinema to the underground, and among them, there are many historical and social ones. The best works will be defined separately from the shorts and documentary films, and the spectator's sympathy prize is also provided.
On July 14 the pictures out f competition will be presented. Awarding ceremony will crown the festival.
It is believed the Festival Ertis cinema will be a new architectural landmark of Pavlodar and Irtysh Land – motherland of the Kazakh cinema founder Shaken Aimanov.
