Secretary of State met with Iranian Ambassador on the occasion of completion of diplomatic mission

The trade turnover for January-May 2018 between the two states has reached 251.4 million dollars. 

 

Astana held a meeting of Secretary of State of Kazakhstan Gulshara Abdykalikova with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Iran to Kazakhstan Mojtaba Damirchilu on the occasion of the completion of his diplomatic mission in the country, an official website of Akorda reports. 

The Secretary of State noted that owing to close and reliable dialogue of the leaders of the two states, Kazakh-Iranian relations have entered a qualitatively new level and said that thier next meeting was planned within the 5th Caspian Summit, that is held this week. 

"We pay great importance to the expansion and strengthening of trade and economic cooperation with Iran," said the Secretary of State. 

Gulshara Abdikalikova specially emphasized the results of the implementation of the Programme for developemnt of industrial and innovational and trade and economic cooperation, that was adoped during the visit of Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev to Tegeran in 2016 that includes 48 projects for 1.38 billion dollars and covers such spehres are agriculture, transit and logistics, subsoil use and industry. 

"The trade turnover for January-May 2018 between the two states has reached 251.4 million dollars, that is by 41.7% more than for the same period of the previous year (177.4 million). Exports have increased by 36.1% and make up 207.2 million dollars, imports have increased by 76% and make up 44.2 million dollars," said the Secretary of State.  

The Secretary of State specially emphasized that the temporary agreement on the creation of a free trade zone between the Eurasian Economic Union and Iran aimed at establishing a preferential trade regime and based on the norms of the WTO and international right will create stable conditions and rules for mutual trade between Kazakhstan and Iran. 

"We can see a big potential to develop cooperation in transport and transit, agriculture, as well as in subsoil use," said Abdykalikova during the talk with the Ambassador. 

At the end of the meeting, the Secretary of State of Kazakhstan thanked the Iranian Ambassador who completes his dimplomatic mission in Kazakhstan for his contribution to the development and strengthening of mutually beneficial cooperation between our friendly states and wished success in the new post.
