South Korean businessmen willing to invest in Kazakhstan’s agricultural sector
The South Korean company Noroo Kiban is interested in investing in the sector.
The delegation of Kazakhstan headed by Deputy Minister for Investment and Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan Arystan Kabikenov is on a working visit to Seoul, where he holds talks with the largest South Korean business companies in order to boost economic cooperation between the countries, the press service of Kazakh Invest reports.
Deputy Governor of Kostanay region Meirzhan Myrzaliyev, head of JSC “Kazakhstan Public-Private Partnership Center” Azamat Oinarov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Kazakh Invest Rustam Isatayev, representatives of NWF “Samruk-Kazyna”, “KTZ-Express”, “KazAgro” and others were members of the delegation.
On April 17, members of the Kazakhstan delegation discussed cooperation with the Deputy Chairman of the Energy and Mineral Resources Development Association of Korea.
"Recently we have been very active in cooperation with the Embassy of Kazakhstan and JSC “KazGeology”, and we hope that as a result of this work our companies will find interesting projects in the mining sector of Kazakhstan," said the Deputy Chairman.
During the visit of the Kazakhstan delegation, a dialogue was held on the exchange of experience in the management and legislative regulation of special economic zones, the opportunities of the East Cost SEZ, which since 2013 has been operating in the mining and metallurgical sector, in the fields of logistics and green economy and other promising directions, were presented.
In addition, on the first day of the investment week, meetings were held with the leadership of the largest TNCs in Korea - Noroo Kiban, Highvill and POSCO ICT.
Thus, at the meeting with the Chairman of the Board of Highvill, issues of investing in a number of construction projects in the regions of Kazakhstan were discussed.
"We have been doing business for 14 years in Kazakhstan and would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude for this support. I think that we have successfully implemented our construction business. Our company intends to continue this activity in the future. Our experience in Kazakhstan will be a really good example for the activities of other Korean companies in Kazakhstan," said the head of the company Highvill.
In turn, the company "Noroo Kiban" is interested in investing in projects of the agricultural sector, chemical industry using the latest information and communication technologies. So, at the meeting the Deputy Governor of Kostanay region suggested considering the possibility of investing in the projects of the region.
At the meeting with the First Vice President of POSCO ICT, the possibilities of investing in IT infrastructure, automation, smart-city were discussed.
“20 hours ago, we have met with the Ambassador of Korea to Kazakhstan and he expressed surprise that cooperation with South Korean IT-companies, especially with POSCO, has been intensified. And we are interested in cooperation with your company," said Rustam Isatayev, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Kazakh Invest.
Within the framework of the investment week, a number of meetings with South Korean companies are planned as well as a business forum in Seoul.
