U.S. Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, chairman of the House Subcommittee on International Affairs of Europe, Eurasia and the new threats, issued a statement about the conference, scheduled for next week in Kazakhstan and dedicated to "building a world free of nuclear weapons," BNews.kz reports.

"Next week the art and political leaders from around the world will gather in Astana, Kazakhstan at the international conference dedicated to" building a world free of nuclear weapons. " Over the past 25 years, the United States and the government of Kazakhstan are reaping the benefits of productive cooperation to ensure the security of nuclear material and eliminate the consequences of the nuclear activities of the Cold War. The joint work of our governments has contributed to regional stability and enhancing international security.

Naturally, that the day of the conference coincides with the International Day against Nuclear UN tests. I appreciate the people of Kazakhstan for their unwavering commitment to nuclear disarmament and consistent actions of the government in this direction. I wish you a successful conference and look forward to further progress in improving nuclear safety. "
