Spread of new strain of influenza is forecasted in Kazakhstan
The population is called on to be subject to mandatory vaccination against flu.
According to the World Health Organization, a new type of virus - Singapore is expected in Kazakhstan. The population has no immunity to these strains which are one of the dangerous A types. Kazakhstan's General Medical Officer Zhandarbek Bekshin called Kazakhstan citizens to be subject to mandatory vaccination against flu in autumn and winter periods, BNews.kz correspondent reports.
Last year the three types of flue circulated in Kazakhstan: Michigan, Hongkong, and Brisbane (A type flu). In this year the situation changes: following the WHO's forecast, Singapore (A) and Colorado strains will add to Michigan.
"Out of this group, the most dangerous is an A type which always mutates. There is no immunity to A type flu, such as Singapore, therefore people should be subject to vaccination. 20% of the people have low immunity. We have conducted selective cutting of immunization. Thus, the population should take preventive measures in terms of that, such as to increase immunity, the right diet regime is needed, as well as the sleeping regime, hypothermia should be prevented. Hypothermia is the main factor which will bring the disease further as well as a virus, or flu. It is the main reason that will develop and raise repertory virus infections, including flu," said Bekshin.
The General Medical Officer noted that the flu's virus has serious complications. They lead to chronic diseases in the future that need lifelong treatment.
"Parts of myocarditis, pericarditis are results of the diseases got: flu or acute respiratory virus infections. Other diseases: endocrine, liver, kidneys, lungs, upper respiratory tract are also the fallouts of the diseases got," said Zhandarbek Bekshin.
This year massive vaccination of the population starts on October 1. The Kazakh Healthcare Ministry plans to complete the vaccination by the end of the year. As of today, 1.5 million doses of vaccines are brought into Kazakhstan, and the regional Governor's Offices spent 1.2 billion tenges.
