Tatyana Nikolenko becomes first-ever Kazakh tennis player to top Asian Tennis Rankings
She is ahead of the closest contestants by a hundred scores.
Kazakh tennis player Tatyana Nikolenko from the city of Ust-Kamenogorsk is the first to be the number 1 ranked tennis player not only in Kazakhstan but in the most populous continent - Asia, Bnews.kz reports referring to Sports.kz.
A 14-year-old Tatyana Nikolenko tops the ATF (the Asian Tennis Federation) rankings among her peers starting with this November 5 till now. Earlier, she ranked in the top-3 of Asian tennis, and now she tops the rankings for the first time.
"This has happened for the first time in tennis history of tennis of Kazakhstan," shared her father Yuri Nikolenko.
At the moment, Tatyana has scored 2967,5 points, leaving the closest contestants by a hundred points behind. Thus, she is ahead of Iranian tennis player Meshkatozahra Safi by 107 points, who ranks second, and Thai tennis player Kittika Aeb Iemby by 330 points, who is third.
She used to combine playing tennis and athletics that led to such stamina.
Now Tatyana Nikolenko participates in the two tournaments in the USA.
