The longest patchwork in the world to be presented to Almaty citizens at Nauryz

According to the organizers, the patchwork pretends to the inclusion to Guinness World Records.

As part of the celebration of Nauryz-2018, the longest “Quraq korpe” (patchwork) will be sewn. It is planned that the national patchwork will be 25 500 sq. m. Tho organizers note that after braking the record and receiving a certificate, pieces of the patchwork will be presented at different exhibitions around the republic, Department of culture and archives of Almaty reports.

A start of the event will be in the celebrating day of “Nauryz-2018” on March 22 and will end in September, at the Park of the First President, during the celebration of the Day of Almaty, where the whole Quaq korpe will be spread out and presented to citizens and guests of the city.

To implement the project, 25 libraries of the city will receive the elements of the traditional patchwork.

“Each piece of the patchwork presents the diversity of our Motherland: its steppes, mountains and rivers, and the main symbol - the unity of the people. In Kazakhstan, more than 130 nationalities live. The peoples of Kazakhstan are tightly united by the country like the pieces of the patchwork,” the Department of Culture and Archives of Almaty commented.

We note that the last record in sewing was established in 2000, in Porto (Portugal), Manta da Cultura 25 100 sq.m.

Another record will be broken by MacTea, that will organize a grandiose tea party on March 22, 2018 on Zhibek Zholy Street. For this purpose, a large tea cup of 2 000 liters will be installed, in which instant tea will be made in front of citizens and guests of Almaty. Owing to that, the organizers plan to present tea to more than 20 000 people.

We note that after counting all ingredients, the inspector of the Kazakhstan Information and Encyclopaedic Guide will register a cup with tea as a new record. Once the facts have approved the company will be given a certificate and it will be registered in the Kazakhstan book of records “KIEG”.
