Up to 3 million tourists visited Kazakhstan in 2017
Such a number of foreigners arrived in the county to visit the 28th Winter Universiade and EXPO exhibition.
Deputy minister of internal affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yerlan Turgumbayev told about the migration situation in the country, the press service of the Internal Affairs Department of Almaty reports.
“The stable economic situation in our state, the improvement of the investment climate and tourist image, including holding of significant international events attract a considerable number of foreigners to Kazakhstan. For instance, only such large-scale international events as the 28th Winter World Universiade and the International Specialized Exhibition EXPO held in the previous year attracted 3 million foreign tourists. On the initiative of head of state Nursultan Abishevich Nazarbayev, the International financial centre was established in Astana. Its establishment gave an additional impetus to investments to Kazakhstan’s industry and infrastructure, the introduction of innovative technologies and provision of financial services at the international level,” said the deputy minister.
At the same time, the speaker underlined that against the current crises in the world economy, it is early to talk about the reduction in intensity of migration inflows. The currency of migration control in the light of threats of international terrorism and activization of non-regulated migration increases. In order to prevent fallouts, the member states undertake additional legislative and organizational measures.
“Effective regulation of migration is possible when there is cooperation with other states. As part of the Coordination Council, we have exchanged the experience, plan and implement joint actions to combat illegal migration and to control over migration inflows. On behalf of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan, I would like to express gratitude for joint work with representatives of Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, a Russia and Tajikistan, as well as with international organizations that take part in the session. I am certain that the decisions elaborated at the discussion will facilitate further strengthening of our cooperation,” said Yerlan Turgumbayev.
According to the Ministry, more than 2.5 million foreigners visit Kazakhstan annually to work, to study, for personal and official affairs. Of which, 90% are CIS citizens, mainly labour migrants.
