Volume of trading in Russian rubles increased on KASE

In January, the volume of trading in the ruble/tenge pair was 586,8 million rubles, which is 13.8% higher than in December.

Zaure Yessimov, a director of the Department of Information and Statistics of JSC “Kazakhstan Stock Exchange”, told about the reasons of such growth during the press conference, BNews.kz correspondent reports.

In January, the volume in the ruble/tenge pair amounted to 586,8 million rubles, up 13.8% from the previous month. The share in the trading volume in the ruble/tenge pair in January was 13.3% (0.6% more than in December), the number of transactions 93. It is noted that during this period the exchange rate fluctuated within 5.69-5.84 tenge per ruble.

"The ruble/tenge has grown a little, its share has grown a little, this is, of course, negligible compared to the dollar/tenge, but this, I think, due to some client orders, there were projects that are calculated in rubles within the framework of the Unified Energy System," said the director of the Department of Information and Statistics JSC “Kazakhstan Stock Exchange” Zaure Yessimov.

In addition, according to KASE, the total trading volume on the foreign currency market reached 1,244.8 billion dollars, which is 5.1% or 60.4 billion tenge higher than the result of the previous month. The pair of dollar/tenge (86.1% in the volume of trades, 7438 deals in January) is in great demand.

Also, the minimal growth showed the trading volume in the pair Chinese yuan/ tenge. The volume amounted to 26.4 million units of currency (100% more than in December 2017), 47 deals, a 0.6% share in the trading volume, a rate within 50.2-51.2 tenge per 1 yuan. As the statistics show, the negative dynamics is shown by the euro/tenge pair. There are only 21 deals for January.
