What will CSTO Council session discuss in Astana
They in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan noted that this session is a key and culminating event of Kazakhstan's chairmanship of the CSTO in 2018.
On November 8, Astana will hold a regular session of the CSTO Council at the level of the heads of state. The session will summarize the priority directions of the Organization's work put forward by Kazakhstan during its chairmanship. The official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Aibek Smadiyarov, said at the briefing, BNews.kz correspondent reports.
A joint session of the Council of Foreign Ministries, the Council of Defense Ministries, the CSTO Committee of Secretaries of Security Councils are also expected on the margins of the Summit.
"It is planned to conclude documents following the Summit, including the final declaration of the CSTO Council, a common statement on coordinated actions regarding to the persons who took part in armed conflicts with international terrorist organizations, four international agreements providing for amendments to the statutes of the CSTO regarding Armenia's representation in the Organization, as well as making amendments to the agreement on the legal status of the CSTO," said Aibek Smadiyarov.
According to him, the heads of state will also consider solutions of the CSTO Board aimed at strengthening the Organization's crisis response, to prevent illegal migration, to develop a coordinated information policy, to clarify the organization and composition of collective forces, to approve the candidature to the post of Chairman of the Interstate Commission for Military and Economic Cooperation.
Documents on formalizing the legal status of partners and observукы of the CSTO, the adoption of which presents opportunities to establish cooperation of the Organization with third countries at a qualitatively new level, are of special attention.
