Zhansaya Abdumalik to take park in elite chess tournament in USA
According to the tournament’s organizers, she is among 10 top chess players of the globe.
Kazakh chess player Zhansaya Abdumalik received an invitation from Saint Louis Chess Club to take part in Cairns Cup 2019 in the United States as the organizer came up with the 10 tops in chess irrespective of age, Kazakhstan Chess Federation’s press office has informed.
“To be honest, I did not expect to receive an invitation, be among 10 tops according to Saint Louis Chess Club, and represent Kazakhstan there – it is a great honor and a serious responsibility,” said Zhansaya Abdumalik.

Starting on 2 February in Chess Club in Saint Louis, the Missouri state, the round-robin tournament will be held for the first time and become an established annual event.
“This tournament is a high-level event. Zhansaya is the only Kazakh chess player in the tournament and the youngest, which does not hinder her to face other competitors,” said Executive Director of Kazakhstan Chess Federation Irina Grishchenko.
The Tournament’s prize fund is US $150 thousand, making it the largest amount in the history of women’s round-robin tournaments. All participants will receive money prizes: US $40 thousand for the winner, and US $5 thousand for the 10th place.
